The Blessing Way~

A sacred offering to Mothers- think, baby shower but make it sacred with no games.

This can simply be, women you love in a circle honoring you. Going around sharing prayers, intentions, wisdom.

It can look like painting mamas’s belly, taking photos, singing songs, talking fears and really holding mama- Anchoring in “it takes a village” and you being supported in this.

Bozeman Bone Broth~

How I began nourishing mamas- Slow simmering local beef or chicken with the infusing of medicinal herbs and organic veggies.

It’s warm, nutrient dense, and so so so good for us. Perfect for a prenatal or postpartum mama. With herbals to support lactation production, gut health and added proteins.

To Walk The Path of The Doula-

I’m Ashlee McDonald, an Ayurvedic postpartum doula, herbalist, and yoga teacher devoted to honoring the sacred journey of birth and rebirth.

My path has been shaped by many roles- daughter, sister, friend, student of the plants, and guide for women returning to themselves. Being present at the births of four younger siblings and supporting friends through pregnancy and postpartum opened the door to the potency of this work.

Down the road, with deep devotion and study with Noya Roa sacred tree, the invitation became clear: to support women during this transformative time of birth with nourishment, deep listening, and reverence. Anchored in wisdom, Ayurveda, medicinal herbs, and warmth- I’m here to witness women shifting into motherhood with support of the village.

In our time together… you’ll be sipping on a cup of warm herbal bone broth, simmered with local produce and dense with nutrients. I would have prepared a tea blend crafted to support lactation, cellular rebuilding and anchored in nervous system soothing. We would sit together in presence to allow the natural healing and unwinding from birth. This can look like me supporting in an Ayurvedic practice of Abhyanga- gently rubbing warm oils on the body and taking a warm bath while I sit with baby and you receive some solo time. It can also look like me creating meals specifically for the week of postpartum you are in to holistically nourish the body. Or- it can look like me doing your dishes.

Every visit together might look different but I believe in offering a space for mother to grow deeper in connection with baby and with herself. Gifting time to slowing way down to honor the bodies healing process and support mother in this new cycle of life. Through grounding, warming meals, herbal tea remedies, ritual and ceremony, Ayurvedic practices and the simplicity of presence I believe we can gently honor this time together.

Medicinal Herbalism

My relationship with plants began before I ever called it herbalism. Over the years the plants became my teachers, allies, and medicine- guiding me through my own healing journey with digestion, cycle support and nervous system repair. My approach is simple, intuitive, yet practical and rooted in traditional wisdom. Through the lens of Chinese Medicine, Ayurveda, folk herbalism, and plant spirits.

Medicinal herbals will be local, organic, and specially tailored to your constitution- it can look like tea infusions to support cleansing the blood, repairing tissues, supporting the healing process postpartum, or a prenatal blend with many minerals and nutrients to support pre-baby.

  • Herbal bath- to support postpardum healing

  • Rose infused oil- nourishing to Nervous System, Heart support

  • Yoni Steam- 5-6 weeks postpartum

Bringing presents and gratitude to my teachers, friends and allies- Sajah Popham(Evolutionary Herbalism), Olivia Romano(Organic Olivia), Amy Warton(mentor), Richard Rudd(Gene Keys), Rada Schwaller(Bliss Alchemy)

The Maiden’s Freedom expanding into The Mother’s Devotion

The shift from Maiden- wild youth, curious becoming, playful innocence and discovering ourselves and life

—> to Motherhood- divine creation, mastery of responsibility, nourishment, and initiation

I don’t think enough of us talk about this transition and all that it asks of a woman. Even if we aren’t mothers or become mothers there is still this natural becoming into the Motherhood era. Where we step or more…dance? stumble? fall? into our majesty of maturity and devotion to ourselves and our communities.

It can be a little uncomfortable for some (me) and yet there’s such a readiness in the body. Again, it doesn’t mean you need to actually bare a child but for those that are here I’m assuming it does.

My own personal contemplations during these chapters and how being seen in them could/can be supportive…

What parts of you are grieving?

What fears are shown during this rebirth?

How can we honor the maiden while transitioning into the mother?

What is the relationship with your own mother?

What is your idea of Motherhood?
